Indonesia Sports Summit 2025: Transforming the Sports Industry Landscape
Jakarta – Indonesia Sports Summit officially kicked off on December 6, 2025, at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno area. The event will run for two days until December 7, 2025. Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, delivered the keynote speech at ISS 2025.
In his presentation, Erick Thohir discussed the current state of the sports industry worldwide. Minister Erick revealed that the United States currently holds about 40 percent of the global sports industry. According to the data presented by Minister Erick, the total global sports industry sales in 2024 amounted to 521 billion US dollars.
Based on these facts, Minister Erick invited all sports stakeholders in Indonesia to collectively change the mindset and perception that Indonesia must become a new force in the world in developing the sports industry.
“We must become a new force in the global sports industry. If we want to, Indonesia can become a new force in the global sports industry. Especially since we have hosted world-class events such as the 2018 Asian Games, Moto GP, FIFA U-17 World Cup, and FIBA Basketball World Cup,” said Minister Erick.
According to Minister Erick, to realize Indonesia’s potential as a new force in the global sports industry, cooperation from all stakeholders is essential. This includes cooperation from ministries to regional levels. One of the crucial elements to support the sports industry is Policy Makers. Minister Erick emphasized that if policymakers are contradictory, it will be challenging to develop the sports industry.
“If policymakers are contradictory, it will not work. We need policies that are facilitative but also adhere to administrative rules. Therefore, at ISS, I urge all officials in the Ministry of Youth and Sports to change their mindset to support the development of the sports industry,” Minister Erick said.
Minister Erick also emphasized that Indonesia Sports Summit is a starting point to support the development of the sports industry in Indonesia. He believes that this step is also an implementation to support President Prabowo’s efforts to boost Indonesia’s economy.
“Just yesterday, President Prabowo sent off the Indonesian contingent to the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. And the President mentioned that if we want to become a developed country, our economy must grow, our defense must be strong, and our sports must excel,” Minister Erick stated.
Creating Opportunities and Building an Inclusive Sports Ecosystem
ISS is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to strengthen the national sports industry. ISS 2025 aims to be a collaborative platform between sports stakeholders, the government, and the younger generation, to build an inclusive and globally competitive sports ecosystem. The agenda includes panel discussions, industry exhibitions, and a job fair to create new opportunities.
ISS 2025, held on December 6-7, 2025, in Indonesia, is not just a discussion forum but also a gateway for investments, innovations, and human resources development that will strengthen the foundation of Indonesia’s sports industry in the future.
Transformasi Industri Olahraga Indonesia Melalui Indonesia Sports Summit 2025
Jakarta – Indonesia Sports Summit resmi dimulai pada 6 Desember 2025 di Indonesia Arena, area Gelora Bung Karno. Acara ini akan berlangsung selama dua hari hingga 7 Desember 2025. Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga Indonesia, Erick Thohir, menyampaikan pidato kunci di ISS 2025.
Dalam presentasinya, Erick Thohir membahas kondisi industri olahraga saat ini di seluruh dunia. Menteri Erick mengungkapkan bahwa Amerika Serikat saat ini memiliki sekitar 40 persen dari total penjualan industri olahraga global. Menurut data yang disajikan oleh Menteri Erick, total penjualan industri olahraga global pada tahun 2024 mencapai 521 miliar dolar AS.
Berdasarkan fakta ini, Menteri Erick mengajak semua pemangku kepentingan olahraga di Indonesia untuk secara bersama-sama mengubah pola pikir dan persepsi bahwa Indonesia harus menjadi kekuatan baru di dunia dalam pengembangan industri olahraga.
“Kita harus menjadi kekuatan baru dalam industri olahraga global. Jika kita mau, Indonesia bisa menjadi kekuatan baru dalam industri olahraga global. Apalagi sejak kita telah menjadi tuan rumah acara-acara kelas dunia seperti Asian Games 2018, Moto GP, Piala Dunia FIFA U-17, dan Piala Dunia Bola Basket FIBA,” ujar Menteri Erick.
Menurut Menteri Erick, untuk mewujudkan potensi Indonesia sebagai kekuatan baru dalam industri olahraga global, kerjasama dari semua pemangku kepentingan sangat penting. Hal ini termasuk kerjasama dari tingkat kementerian hingga daerah. Salah satu elemen penting untuk mendukung industri olahraga adalah Pembuat Kebijakan. Menteri Erick menekankan bahwa jika para pembuat kebijakan bertentangan, akan sulit untuk mengembangkan industri olahraga.
“Jika para pembuat kebijakan bertentangan, itu tidak akan berhasil. Kita butuh kebijakan yang bersifat fasilitatif namun juga patuh pada aturan administrasi. Oleh karena itu, di ISS, saya mendesak seluruh pejabat di Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga untuk mengubah pola pikir mereka untuk mendukung pengembangan industri olahraga,” kata Menteri Erick.
Menteri Erick juga menegaskan bahwa Indonesia Sports Summit merupakan titik awal untuk mendukung pengembangan industri olahraga di Indonesia. Ia percaya langkah ini juga merupakan implementasi untuk mendukung upaya Presiden Prabowo dalam meningkatkan ekonomi Indonesia.
“Baru kemarin, Presiden Prabowo melepas kontingen Indonesia ke SEA Games 2025 di Thailand. Dan Presiden menyebutkan bahwa jika kita ingin menjadi negara maju, ekonomi kita harus tumbuh, pertahanan kita harus kuat, dan olahraga kita harus unggul,” ujar Menteri Erick.
Menciptakan Peluang dan Membangun Ekosistem Olahraga yang Inklusif
ISS diselenggarakan oleh Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga untuk memperkuat industri olahraga nasional. ISS 2025 bertujuan menjadi platform kolaboratif antara pemangku kepentingan olahraga, pemerintah, dan generasi muda, untuk membangun ekosistem olahraga yang inklusif dan bersaing secara global. Agenda tersebut meliputi diskusi panel, pameran industri, dan job fair untuk menciptakan peluang baru.
ISS 2025, yang diselenggarakan pada 6-7 Desember 2025, di Indonesia, tidak hanya merupakan forum diskusi tetapi juga gerbang untuk investasi, inovasi, dan pengembangan sumber daya manusia yang akan memperkuat landasan industri olahraga Indonesia di masa depan.
